Matthew 6:14-15
Forgiveness is one of the clearest signs that the Word of God is working in us. We cannot rejoice over the grace God has extended toward us while refusing to extend grace to others. Jesus reminds us in Matthew 6:14–15 that forgiveness is not simply a good Christian gesture; it is something God expects from those who have received His forgiveness.
That does not mean the hurt wasn't real or that trust must automatically be restored. It means we refuse to allow bitterness, anger, and unforgiveness to take up permanent residence in our hearts. Spiritual maturity requires us to deal with what we carry, especially when what we carry begins interfering with our relationship with God.
John 3:16 reminds us that God's response to a sinful world was love. Christ came so that we could be forgiven and reconciled to God. If that love lives in us, then somewhere along the way it must become visible in how we deal with one another.
We have been forgiven too much to spend our lives refusing to forgive.
As the seasons change around us, take a moment to consider what may be changing within you. God often prepares us for what’s next before we fully understand what’s coming.
